Brian DaveyWhere is the club going? How are we going to get there?

I have been at the club for 2 ½  years now and already seen plenty of changes and a lot of improvement.

The new clubhouse, is the result of five years planning , hard work and a lot of moneybut it was well worth the wait and thanks should go to  a large group of dedicated, hard working and thoroughly professional people, all local who put in a lot of hours and effort in their belief that this club can go forward.

Not only do this group of people build the clubhouse they come to watch every home game and quite a few travel away. At the game against Boroughbridge there was a big crowd and half where from Knaresborough. We average 100 to 150 for every home game, proof that playing local players will bring in the crowds. Let’s face it would you rather watch a local lad, a mate, a family member, a good up and coming youngster or a player that lives 20 / 30 miles away and wants £50, who you know, it means nothing to him if he loses the game. Stop the money and he is off looking elsewhere for that £50.

My job as manager is to provide Knaresborough with a good footballing side, that people will enjoy watching. We have a good mix of players, average age 23 and we are already West Yorkshire League Premier Division Champions and this season we are currently 5th in the league with games in hand, in the semi finals of the Whitworth Cup and the West Riding County Challenge Cup.

All that said the club must move on again and our next objective is to install floodlights at Manse Lane, this again is going to take time and money but I am sure we will achieve our goal. Price for floodlights is £50, 000. Any thoughts?

If you have any thoughts on what Brian has said please feel free to let us know your opinion or any ideas you may have to help the club achieve it’s next goal.
