For the second game in a row we saw seven goals at Manse Lane with the reserves beating Howden Clough reserves 7 – 0 in the league trophy. Sal Nije had such a good game, running about like a youngster, that I might be tempted into making a comeback as he can’t be much younger than me! It was a really good team performance and a good step in our attempt to retain the trophy we won last year.

Today the reserves face a much tougher game away to Leeds City who are just above us in the league on goal difference, so anything we can get from there will be a good result.

The first team were at Leeds City last week and lost 2 – 1, which is a pity as a win there would have put us above them in the league. As it is, we have now dropped to 5th so we need to dig in and get back to winning ways. Today’s opponents are Pool who are 10th in the league, but as we have recently found out, there are no easy games in the West Yorkshire Premier division and all teams have a chance of beating everyone else, so we will need to be at our best to get the points.

The bidding process for the land we are selling has now closed and as we know that there were several bids we can be confident about going ahead with the installation of floodlights and the other ground improvements. There are still some legal formalities to sort out so I can’t say too much at the moment but will keep you posted as things develop.
